Who are we or better what are we and what are we doing?
D.P.F.V. Sandpiper is a Dynamic Positioned Fall-pipe Vessel which is working on the North Sea for the offshore industry and is owned by BOSKALIS OFFSHORE.
Our duty is to cover and protect pipelines, cables, structures and production platforms which are installed on the bottom of the North-sea.
We protect them by covering them with rock.
This protection is necessary to avoid damage from current or fishing activity.
We also do rock dumping if a new pipeline or cable has to cross an excisting pipeline or cable.
We then have to make sure that the new pipeline or cable will cross the excisting one without touching and damaging it.
When the new pipeline or cable has been laid we come back to cover the crossing with rock.
